Toyota Prius is top selling hybrid

The popularity of hybrid cars continue to grow through out the world. It's been nearly a decade since the first Toyota Prius went on sale. According to this report, cumulative sales of this car totaled 1.047 million as of the end of May.

Toyota is still working on what is expected as the next innovation of hybrids, the switch to lithium-ion batteries.

Toyota now account for 80% of car sales in the US.

Free parking for green cars

The city council of London has abolished the parking charges of residents driving hybrid and fuel cell cars, in the borough of Westminister.

These are the latest in a series of eco-friendly moves by the local authority. previously electric cars did not have to pay any road tax or congestion charges. It is also the only place in the UK with free charging points on the streets.

The annual residents' parking permits was previously £78 for hybrid cars and £110 (it still is) for other cars. If other cities followed suit, I would be really tempted to buy a hybrid vehicle myself.

Electric supercar

When we talk about electric cars, the first thing that comes to mind is definitely not the image of a superfast sleek car.

One company plans to change that. Wrightspeed inc. specializes in extreme performance supercars. Their TX1 Prototype concept can go from 0 to 100 km/h in three seconds, beating other famous cars such as the Ferrari 360 Spider and a Porsche Carrera GT.

Right now they are seeking investment to turn this concept into a superfast production car.
